Dangers and Annoyances
Touts are plentiful in Delhi. Be cautious when accepting invitations from strangers and always ask to see for yourself when the hotel you wish to go to is said to be burnt to the ground, closed or booked solid. As in any other big city, theft can be a problem. Always lock your room, especially in cheaper hotels, preferably with your own padlock.
Thieves ply the train routes where there are lots of tourists; the Delhi to Agra Shatabdi Express service is notorious. The Inter State Bus Terminal can also be a bit dodgy, especially at night.
