Egypt is a treasure trove of discovery. Put on your archeologist hat and begin your journey exploring 2 of the original 7 Wonders of the World - the Great Pyramids of Giza and the Pharos. After you've had your fill, head out to Libya. Often overlooked, this fabulous hidden gem has some of the most impressive ancient cities in the world. Wander through the streets of Cyrene and Appollonia, then discover Leptis Magna, the finest ancient Roman city in the Mediterranean. The journey ends in the cosmopolitan centre of Tripoli.

Day 1 Arrive Cairo
Arrive in Cairo at any time.
Day 2 Cairo/Alexandria (B)
Channel your inner Indiana Jones, today we explore the Egytian Museum and the Great Pyramids of Giza.
Day 3 Alexandria (B)
Alexandria is home to the Qaitbey Fortress, now a navel museum, where you can see what remains of the famous Pharos (lighthouse). After your busy day, rest your legs by joining in on the popular local past time - beaching! Stroll along the lengthy beachfront and enjoy some fascinating people watching.
Day 4 El Alamein/Marsa Matruh (B)
El Alamein is the site of one of the most famous battles in World War II. Examine the war relics at the Commonwealth War Cemetery, the German and Italian War Memorial and if you're still feeling up to it, you can make an optional visit to the War Museum.
Day 5 Tobruk (B)
Enjoy the white sand beaches and clear blue waters of Marsa Matruh before heading to Libya. Get a different perspective on WWII by visiting the Libyan war cemetery, then head on into town for a local dinner.
Day 6 Cyrene/Al-Bayda (B)
Cyrene is one of the most significant ancient Greek archaeological sites in the world and a most notable highlight of any visit to Libya. Enjoy a guided tour of these fabulous ruins and imagine what life must have been like in its glory days.
Day 7 Apollonia/Benghazi (B)
Explore the impressive Greek theatre of Apollonia. Then continue on to the small town of Qasr, which has a small but fascinating museum in the Eastern Church. The day ends in Benghazi, where you can wander the narrow streets and souks.
Day 8 Sirt/Zliten (B)
Make your way across the North African coast from one end of the Gulf of Sirt to the other. On the way, stop at the quaint modern city of Sirt, which is the birthplace of Colonel Gaddafi.
Day 9 Leptis Magna/Gharyan (B)
Visit the outstanding Leptis Magna, one of the greatest ancient sites in the world. Spend most of the day exploring the excellent Leptis Museum and impressive amphitheatre, before continuing to Gharyan.
Day 10 Ghadames (B)
Prepare yourself for the journey into the hot Saharan Desert, as we head to Ghadames. Along the way, we stop at the "ghost town" of Nalut, located high in the Nafusa Mountains.
Day 11 Ghadames (B)
This oasis was settled from prehistoric times and was a major port of call for the traders and pilgrims en route to Mecca. Wander the mud bricked lane streets of this beautiful, sleepy desert town.
Day 12-13 Ghadames/Tripoli (2B)
Explore the old whitewashed medina (old city), which is full of mosques and is the historic heart of Tripoli. Make a stop at the Gurgi Mosque and the Arch of Marcus Aurelius, which is the last structure remaining from 163 AD.
Day 14 Cairo (B)
Get ready for another kind of treasure-hunting. Don't miss this fantastic opportunity to shop in the biggest bazaar in Egypt, the Khan al-Khalili.
