Oktoberfest and Bavaria Discovery

8 days ex Munich

Trip Code: EDOB

Munich, Beer Hall Putsch, Bavaria, Wies, Marienbrucke, Pollat Gorge, Lake Forggen, Oberammergau.

Bavarian beer, Bavarian cuisine and Bavarian culture combine to make this one tour of Germany you don’t want to miss. Germans love their beer, and drink on average more than almost any nation on the face of the earth and the Oktoberfest is where you get to not only see this in action, but partake in the festivities as well. Imagine singing along with ten thousand other voices to a simple but famous Bavarian song while the oom pah pah band plays while wearing lederhosen and hats with feathers in them, and you dance on tables with everybody else in unbridled joy. This is Oktoberfest! Of course, this tour is not only about beer. It’s also about sampling Bavarian cuisine, learning about the culture and history of Munich. And of course, two full day trips to gorgeous alpine lands where one can see where Walt Disney got his inspiration for the Disney castle and where Julie Andrews sang “the hills are alive with the sound of music” in the classic movie The Sound of Music. And where was this?: In Salzburg, Austria!

Day 1 Munich
Arrival in Munich at any time.
Day 2 Munich
In the morning we wake up to our first Bavarian morning, have some nice breakfast and get ready to go out on a guided tour of this magnificent stadt (city in German). This tour will take you to the birthplace of the Nazi party, Beer Hall Putsch, and where the resistance gained footing.
Day 3 Munich
Enjoy the magic of Bavaria. Visit Wies then travel to Neuschwanstein Castle, one of King Ludwig II dream castles situated high in the mountains near a lake. Afterwards walk to Marienbrücke where we will have a splendid view of the gorge of Pöllat and of Lake Forggen. Passing through picturesque countryside of mountains and lakes, we reach the second of Ludwig´s dream castles, Linderhof. Hidden in the seclusion of the mountains, Linderhof was the embodiment of his Baroque fantasies and his favorite castle.
Day 4-5 Oktoberfest
Time for us to let loose and enjoy this world famous festival with a local beverage, Beer! We will have the next couple of days at our own leisure to experience the entire spectrum of the Oktoberfest. We will also have time to take an optional tour of the fairytale town of Salzburg, Austria.
Day 6 Munich
After frolicking at Oktoberfest, you’ll probably be pretty darned curious about where all this beer comes from, and the inspiration that drives the brewery’s pursuit of total quality. Tour a local brewery and find out how this famous beer is made.
Day 7 Munich (D)
The best thing about today is dinner! Dine at a traditional Bavarian restaurant and have your fill of hearty foods such as pigs knuckle, schnitzel, haxe, creamy sauces with locally produced mushrooms, suckling pig, creamy cheeses etc. Enjoy your one last night on the town with your new found friends.
